Give a little this season!

When I saw this invitation for giving I knew I couldn’t pass it up.  One of my photographer friends, Kristen Kalp, invited our photography community to give the joy of photography to a family in need this holiday season.  The quote that led her to this creative spark was the following “Be grateful for everything. Even your debt. People in some nations would be happy to have debt, as it means they have a way to provide for their families." 

This holiday season, many photographers in the nation are now offering the joy of photography for a very special family, with Kristin’s lead.  Now we would like to extend the gift of giving to you!

This is a joyous time of year. A time to celebrate the season, our family and a time to truly reflect and appreciate what we have. For some people however, the holidays are a reminder of personal struggles.

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $1000 worth, to be exact. Whether it's a canvas, albums, prints for Grandma, or a wall portrait...it's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a complementary session as well as a $200 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

The nominee must reside in San Diego county. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

Longboard Luau - Scripps Pier, La Jolla

     This year I was asked to volunteer with the annual Longboard Luau Invitational!  Different corporations gather employees, family members and friends to create a surfing team for the event.  They are also assigned a "legend" surfer for their team.  These legends are well-known, award winning surfers from around the world.  After the surfing competition, all guests enjoyed a lovely luau and the awards ceremony!

More importantly this event raises funds to help fight cancer by supporting Moore's UCSD Cancer Research center.  This year they raised over $500,000 for the center.  UCSD is also my alma mater, so it was more than an honor to volunteer my time and photography to this event.

Model Call - Royal Ruckus!

Royal Ruckus Clothing and Accessories for Girls (www.myroyalruckus.com) is looking for a last minute model for a new design! We are tentatively scheduled to shoot on July 8th at 6:00 pm.  These details may change depending on the location we choose.

I know I've been absent for a while here . . . I have many past sessions and events I will be posting in the near future.  Just this past Saturday I was out in Encinitas at the Grand Opening for Childish Couture Children's Boutique. They had vendors in their plaza, a face painter, DJ, and even a reading by the author of the new children's book Becka & the Big Bubble.  Childish Couture caters to parents who appreciate quality, and to celebrate their opening we have gifted some of their newest customers with a free mini session! 

Yesterday was the first day of mini sessions, and it was a huge success.  My assistant Ashley and I loved meeting every one of you! We look forward to seeing the second batch of mini session customers in a couple weeks.

New children's boutique in town!

I'm excited to announce the silent opening of a new children's boutique in Encinitas whom I'll be partnering with. Childish Couture will be opening their doors this weekend May 24th, so be sure to stop by and see my work on their walls. Stroller Strides - vendor of the month!

A big thank you to the San Marcos Stroller Strides group for honoring me with being the vendor of the month!  Dana Pustinger puts a lot of energy and effort towards keeping North County mommies fit while taking their babies for a high energy stroll at Walnut Grove Park.  I thought it was a fabulous idea for keeping new mommies fit!  Check out their site for upcoming classes.

Network savvy Dana added another component to her enterprise by allowing mompreneurs or womanpreneurs to share their business for a month to the moms in her Stroller Strides group.  I thought this was such a great idea!  As a thank you I am offering a special gift to every mommy from Dana's group who completes a session with me.  The session must be booked in the month of May in order to receive the complimentary gift at the ordering session, but the session can be scheduled for later in the year.
